Great work Sam while Rebecca is away - no slacking mind ! Putting the trusses up is your craft and the building will look terrific when that’s done. It’s amazing how much stone is produced from small parts of the original cottage.

Oh my goodness, the break through is really making a difference to the feel of the house! it is no longer an old abandoned building. It is now a much loved house, and a home in the making. As a family you are working toward your dream. That would’ve been a bed nook. Sometimes entirely stone with a curtain and usually a wooden box type bed set into the wall with a curtain across it. Always built near the fireplace for warmth. Sometimes there wouldn’t be a recess and there would be a “settle bed” which was a wooden bench which folded out into a bed. They were a later feature than the dedicated bed nook.
